Ever wonder how Disney films are sold overseas? While the American marketing is selling Tangled as a grand family comedy, the Japanese trailer focuses more on the magic and even some of the emotions the story of Rapunzel displays.

An apology and return to form

Hey guys, it's been a while since I posted something here, but I will change that.

First off, I want to apologize for such a long hiatus. I've been very busy as of late, dealing with school and some physical issues (which thank goodness it's been dealt with). On top of this the fall gaming season is upon us, which means I get to play and review a lot of big games, limiting my time even further.

Finally, if you guys allow me to be honest for a second, I wish for more user input and comments. I want to know if you agree or disagree with me about these great films and maybe even spark some discussion. At times it feels like I am talking to an empty room so again, I will really appreciate comments, feedbacks, opinions, discussions, ANYTHING that will inspire me to keep reviewing movies.

On that note I AM planning a big return for next month. In honor of Halloween, I will be reviewing classic horror films and more! I will try to make this a reality so please stick around!

My Apologies

I want to apologize to all of you my dear readers for not updating the blog in the last few weeks. I experienced a problem with my laptop's charger and it's been taking me forever to get a replacement. The computer I am currently using has limited access (as in I am borrowing someone else's in the meantime, and doesn't have MS Office installed), so I can't make updates.

My sincerest apologies for the slowdown. I promise that as soon as I get my charger (which I hope is sometime this week) I will update this blog and keep it up to date from then on.

Hope you use this opportunity to catch up on the other reviews and features previously posted on the blog while I try to fix everything up on my end.

Pixar on From Screen to Theme

Disney World of Color isn’t the only event you will find Pixar characters. As I explained in the post Pixar has a major presence in the Disney theme parks, whether they are attractions or just passing glimpses of the characters. If you want to know where to find all of these Pixar references I can’t recommend Brent Dodge’s book, From Screen to Theme, enough. The ultimate Disney reference book, From Screen to Theme takes a look at all the animated film references found at the Disney World theme park, Pixar films included.

Two Previous Pixar Features!

Only three more days till Toy Story 3 opens in theaters!

Before I decided to do Pixar Week here at Filmstrip Memories I had already written two articles regarding two Pixar movies.



The first is "Future Film Classics" in which I look at a modern film and analyze if it has potential to be a timeless classic. The first movie to receive this honor is Up, the inspirational story of an old widow who takes flight and tries to fulfill his late wife's wishes.

The second is a segment of Classic Film References, Homages and Tributes dedicated to Wall-E. In this article I look at the film's use of the classic film musical "Hello, Dolly!" to tell the story of Wall-E and EVE. Read more about it here.

My Apologies...

I want to apologize for the lack of updates this week. While I do have a lot of things written up for the site, the truth is that I've been VERY busy as of late. First, my mother recently broke her ankle and has been in treatment for the last few weeks. I've been attending her and looking out for her since.

School is nearly over for the semester and I have A LOT of schoolwork to finish. I've been staying till very late in the morning finishing up all of my schoolwork. This has left me drained and tired, and I need some time to recover.

I promise that once all of this blows over and I feel better I will be posting as much content as possible. Thanks everyone for your patience and support!

Last Wednesday night I had the pleasure of recording the latest episode of Nintendo World Report Newscast episode with Neal Ronaghan and Zach Miller (the "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town" review was dedicated to them). This is the result of our efforts: Newscast #17

Language Issues

Hey guys. It's come to my attention that even though my entries are in English some of the links and options are in Spanish. This is due to Blogspot automatically selecting Spanish as the default language because of my area. I changed the settings so hopefully there's no issue. If it still persists let me know.

Goal and Mission of Filmstrip Memories

Filmstrip Memories exists for one reason: to pay tribute to some of the greatest films ever made.

For the longest time, I was ignorant as to the existence of these films. One day after I was given a film suggestion by a friend I decided to catch up on the rest of the classic films I have missed.

I then decided to turn this into a personal project where I would watch these films and analyze their stories and their impact on society. Doing this, I hope to grow to become a better writer and gain a much stronger appreciation towards these movies.

Goal
In every list the American Film Institute creates they list over a 100 hundred of the best movies (movies, comedies, romances, thrillers etc.). So borrowing from their playbook my goal is to review over a hundred movies before the year ends.

Reviews
These review will portray my honest but fair opinions on these films and explain their strengths and weaknesses, and if you should watch them. I will not post spoilers so the film experience isn't ruined.

Hope I have your full support and that this classic film blog is of your enjoyment!
